Questions to Ask a Small Business Lawyer

Welcome back. Our Raleigh small business lawyer is back with more questions you might need to consider before starting your own business.

Questions to Ask a Raleigh Small Business Lawyer

What successful cases or projects have you completed that may relate to what you’ll provide me?
While the lawyer cannot go into specifics, he or she may be able to give you examples of how money was saved or contracts were negotiated that ended favorably for a client.
Do you have clients that would cause a conflict of interest?
If you do not feel comfortable having a lawyer represent someone else in your industry, perhaps even someone that could be considered a competitor, then make him or her aware beforehand.
How do you prefer to communicate?
If you like to talk on the phone, but your lawyer prefers emails, then you may end up with a communication issue down the road. Find out the best way to reach him or her and decide if it will work for you.
What are payment options?
Some lawyers may charge by the hour or day, and some may want a monthly retainer. It will depend on the scope of the work. Find out beforehand how charges will be applied. You can ask for an estimate if you need several services.
We will cover more questions to ask a small business lawyer in the next post. Come back to read more!
